Keys
High-volume keys
Let one ghost key take thousands of requests a second.
Last updated October 2026.
Normally every request of a ghost key is checked by that key's own server, which keeps every limit exact and serves about 700 requests a second. With high volume (Business), every Vallkey server checks the key's requests itself, so one key can take thousands a second. Turn it on in the key's Rules tab, or PUT /keys/:id/high-volume with { enabled: true }.
| With high volume | |
|---|---|
| Rules, kills, replacements | Reach every server within a second or two |
| Per-minute and daily limits | Counted across servers, so they can run slightly over at peaks |
| Money limits | Exact: requests under a daily money limit are still checked one at a time |
| Activity, charts, signals, automatic kill | Recorded in batches, about once a second |
Limits for each visitor or user, AI token limits and budgets, pacing and rules being tried need every request counted in one place. A key with any of them cannot turn high volume on, and if one is added later, high volume pauses until it is removed.
